Falklands War
Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands on 2 April. Britain dispatched a naval task force and recaptured the islands by 14 June. 255 British and 649 Argentine soldiers died in the 74-day conflict.
Israel Invades Lebanon
In June, Israel launched a full-scale invasion of Lebanon to expel the PLO. The Sabra and Shatila massacre of Palestinian refugees by Israeli-allied militia shocked the world.
